Pet Companion
The Pet Companion is a small animated character that lives in the Codux title bar, there to make long sessions feel a little less lonely. It’s on by default — you adopt a pet to start it, and you can turn it off entirely with one toggle.
How it grows
Section titled “How it grows”The pet is an XP / level system (up to level 100). XP comes from your real AI token usage, so it levels up as you actually use AI tools. Alongside its level, the pet develops five traits — Wisdom, Chaos, Night, Stamina, and Empathy — plus a persona, shaped by how and when you work. There is no leaderboard and no shame state.
What it does
Section titled “What it does”- Reacts to AI turn completions in the active terminal — a little wave when a turn finishes, a different reaction when one is interrupted or needs your input.
- The title bar shows the pet sprite and its current level (
Lv.X). - The popover shows its persona, level, an XP meter, and the five traits.
Settings
Section titled “Settings”Open Settings → Pet:
- Enable Pet — the on/off toggle.
- Plus speech, LLM, and reminder options.
Adopting a new pet archives your current one, and you can restore an archived pet later. Growth data stays on disk locally.
Privacy
Section titled “Privacy”Growth state is stored alongside other Codux app state in the local app data directory. Nothing is uploaded by the pet; it is a local feature.
